shampooer won’t suck water back out of carpet?

I have a Kirby G4 vacuum/shampoo in 1. I finally managed to turn it on and it puts in water but doesn’t suck it up from the carpet. I don’t have a user manual. Does anyone have any suggestions?? Maybe I have something wrong? Or a button that needs to be pressed. I also thought that in the fill tank, if I turned the knob to the off position, it would suck in water again. But that didn’t work either.. Any advice much appreciated..

Kirby G4 Shampoo

I own a cleaning business and regularly use shampoo with my Kirby. This is one of the filters (only a few dollars each) or if you remove the tank, between the entire tank and the vacuum itself there is a groove. If you look closely there is a small switch that needs to be pushed forward when the tank is twisted into place. It may be broken or corroded. Try spraying it with cleanser first and using an old toothbrush to clean it. If it is corroded, the tank will not look good. I would treat it not working, take it to the Kirby guy and let him check it out. Make sure you see it working before you part ways. It’s usually something small. They are very sensitive.

Since you probably paid an arm and a leg for this stupid thing, I would definitely call the company directly. They have a lifetime warranty, so you should take advantage of that before investing more money in them.

get a new working vacuum cleaner

Go to the Kirby website and get the customer service number. They will call you and be happy to do so. I’m pretty sure there’s a second activation for extraction due to the fact that it’s also a void. These things are so frustrating.

Check that all parts are fitted correctly and correctly. With mine, if the water reservoir isn’t in properly, it won’t draw water.
Go online and research the brand of cleanser you have and ask the manufacturer. Good luck

This happened to me with a different brand and all that was wrong was that the very small filter that usually goes into the water tank was clogged.
