Is the severe lack of hair observed in humans and whales an example of homoplasy or homology? see part 25.1 (webpage 497)?
Answer 1
I imagine that hair and limbs are homologous because all mammals have comparable construction of hair and limbs. Hair loss and social behavior, on the other hand, are homolasic because not all mammals have them. Homology are the same traits resulting from frequent ancestry while homoplasy are analogous traits for different causes besides frequent ancestry.
