Check out Jay Kay’s epic car collection

I, like many, listened to Jamiroquai a lot in recent months. It’s one of those bands that never gets old. They have been strong since the early 90s and are still performing well today. I actually went to see them play in Dubai in February and they were fantastic.

Their leader, Jay Kay, has made a lot of money from his time in the band and as a result has an incredible collection of cars. I know he’s passed up a few over the past year, including a BMW E30 M3 Johnny Cecotto Ltd Edition, a Mercedes-Benz 300 SL, a Ford Mustang 390 GT Fastback Bullitt, and many more. I’ll be looking to choose from the best he’s had in his collection over the years, as there are currently over 50!

Ferrari 275 GTB – Around £2,500,000

Here is his superb gray 275 GTB that he bought a few years ago for his 40th birthday. You might also remember a very similar car that appeared in your music video for Cloud 9. I don’t believe it’s the same car, but I could be wrong. He bought it just before the price skyrocketed. It’s easily worth more than double what he paid for, maybe more.

Volvo 850R – £18,000

This is one of the cars that Jay Kay discontinued last year. It’s not only a great car, but it shows how dizzy it is. Few rock stars would buy one, except our very own James May, of course, who wore one during the Africa Top Gear special. It is estimated to cost around £18,000.

BMW 850 CSi – £100,000

Yet another one he dropped, but I feel like I should include it. You don’t really see many there and I think at least I’ve never seen one. They look mega and I heard they sound amazing. Not a bad buy if you have £100,000.

McLaren 675 LT – £230,000

As you can see, it’s not just classics he has. He also owned a McLaren 675 LT, which is often considered one of the best track cars on the market. From the looks of the ceiling spoon, this is an MSO job and probably also the spec I would choose. It looks like he also sold it at the right time, as prices are now as low as £199,000.

Ferrari LaFerrari – £2,300,000

This is one of the most outrageous purchases Jay Kay has made over the years and I believe is currently on sale. This paint is called ‘Signal Green’ and as far as I can tell it is unique. Jay Kay said in an interview: “It’s not often that I order a new car, most of my business is classic business, so when I like to do a little event and have thought about it, the Green Italian flag would be appropriate, with the lights on red – it’s the Italian flag, so it worked.

Ferrari Vignale 330 GT – £240,000

If you didn’t already know, Jay Kay is a big Prancing Horse fan. It is a very special car. This is one of the finest shooting brakes in the world – especially in this specification. Before that he had a 330 GT Mk2 which this car is based on, but he clearly lost so much that he bought another one, but this time built by Vignale.

BMW Bauer Convertible – Around £15,000

What many people would consider a garage queen, this one certainly isn’t. It’s done over 64,000 miles since 1974, which might not sound like a lot, but for a car this fresh.

Aston Martin DB6 Mk1 Steering Wheel – £700,000

If you thought the Vignale 330 GT was beautiful, take a look at this classic Aston Martin DB6. They’re currently selling for over £700,000 and it’s understandable why. I believe they only made about 180, hence the price tag these days. I’m sure that’s the one he’ll keep for a while yet.

Abarth 1000 – £40,000 to £50,000

It has to be one of my favorites. Nicknamed Noddy, it’s your little “Mini” alternative. It’s probably one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen. It has a small 1000cc engine, but what more could you ask for? She’s my cosmic daughter. It is a complete kart for the road. Could this be the ultimate B-Road weapon?

Lamborghini Diablo SE30 Jota – £700,000

Did you really think it would be a celebrity car collection if there wasn’t a Lamborghini involved? As you can see, Jay Kay had a bit of a mare. There were actually two cars that were used for the Cosmic Girl music video.

The first one was completely destroyed in transit to set, so he had to buy another one as it had to be purple for the purposes of the song. It wasn’t easy because they only made three, one of which wasn’t really road legal. Anyway, he got another one, but this one had a camera sitting on the front windshield.

Very unlucky, looks like it wasn’t all “All Good in the Hood” after all. So when you watch the Cosmic Girl clip, you’ll notice that it seems oddly windy in the cabin. This is because there is no windshield.

What is your favorite car in your collection?
