Dodge reveals plans to build Dodge Challenger Ghoul

To be perfectly honest, the Dodge Challenger Demon did a great job as the ultimate muscle car. It was the pinnacle of what a muscle car could be, and everyone thought it would be the last of its kind. Well, there’s no other way to put it: Dodge is making an even better car than the Demon.

Introducing the Dodge Challenger Ghoul, a car designed to make Demon look like a chicken. Chrysler revealed a teaser photo of the Ghoul earlier this month, so it’s not a question of if, it’s a question of when. We don’t know exactly how much energy this will produce, but there are a few guesses. Most likely, the Ghoul will borrow from the Hellephant engine, a supercharged 7.0-liter V8 that produces 1,000 horsepower and 950 lb-ft of torque. According to numerous leaks, this is what Dodge has gone for.

However, other possibilities include a V10 engine derived from the Viper, or somehow a more powerful version of the supercharged 6.2-liter V8 that powers the Demon. Although it looks like we’ll see the Hellaphant Engine as the Ghoul Engine.

And while it’s unconfirmed, it seems likely that the ghoul isn’t unique to Challenger. In April, reports surfaced that the Ghoul nameplate would be used exclusively for the Charger. It was also said to contain the Hellaphant Engine. However, for now, Dodge has only confirmed the Challenger Ghoul.

They also set a very high price for it: $200,000. Dodge started taking deposits of $20,000 and they hinted that the down payment is 10% of the Ghoul’s total MSRP. Put those two pieces of information together and you have an MSRP of $200,000 for the Challenger Ghoul. Too expensive for 1,000 horsepower, but you can’t beat the best muscle car.
