What are three rules to remember when focusing a microscope?

There are many rules. Place the object on the Stage centered on the light source. Make sure the microscope is initially at low power. Look at the lens mount side every time you change lenses so as not to damage the blade. Focus only with fine adjustment under high power. Never use the oil-free oil immersion objective and make sure you have a coverslip on your slide. Adjust the stage condenser for the best lighting conditions.
