It’s definitely classic funk music. I remember hearing it in a commercial a few years ago with a group of black cheerleaders dancing and the saying was, “We were there.” But I can’t think of the artist or the song. I thought it was Con Funk Shun, but I don’t think so.
I realize this question is incredibly old in terms of internet time, but if it helps anyone, I can provide my two cents as well. Reading the lyrics, I have reason to think it’s Take Your Time (Do It Right) by SOS Band. Although imperfect, the lyrics resemble those of the song. Not sure if this is a music video per se (or a commercial), but it’s a fun song worth listening to, even if it’s not the song you are looking for. Below I have provided a YouTube video link to the song.

Tina Turner – “Shake a Tail Feather”?
Or maybe Wreckx-N-Effect’s “Rump Shaker” (but that was done in 1992, so maybe not).
It depends.
Lyrical version of “Shake that booty”: Shake That Booty, Boys wit da Bass (Album: Ridin’ Out the South)

Shake it near the subway station
Maybe it wasn’t “Shake it, Baby” but “Whip it, Baby” and that song would be Dazz Band’s “Let it Whip.” (I think that’s what you really want.)
