Spanish help: favorita or favorito?

When is it correct to use “favorite” instead of “favorite” and vice versa?

Answer 1

It was probably one of those masculine nouns that end in -a, like program, map, drama, etc. Was it “my favorite show”? That would be correct.

Or a feminine noun ending in -o, like mano.

The adjective must match the true gender of the noun, even if it does not follow the usual rule of masculine -o and feminine -a.

answer 2

Favorite is for masculine words, Favorite is for feminine words.
It all depends on the word before.

answer 3

Favorites are for male names
The favorite is for female names

answer 4

Favorite and favorite are adjectives (so they “usually” accompany a noun). In Spanish, most adjectives change according to the gender of the noun:

Nouns like film (film), canción (music), alimentar (food), alumna (student) are “feminine”: Es mi film favorite. It’s my favorite song. It’s my favorite food. You are my favorite student.
You don’t say ‘el Comida’, you say ‘la Comida’.

On the other hand, nouns like libro (book), pais (country), sobrino (nephew) or alumno (student) are “masculine”. It’s my favorite book. He’s my favorite dad. You are my favorite nephew. You are my favorite student.
You say ‘el libro’, not ‘la libro’.

To further illustrate (or complicate) this explanation, if you notice, I said “female” and “male”. This is because the name (name) is a masculine word: EL name. Thus, all the adjectives that modify it are also masculine in their ending: Los nom masculine y femeninos.

So you use favorite or favorite depending on which word they modify.

Hope this helps you!
