My Runescape account has not logged out from its previous session?

So here’s the deal. You may be familiar with the issue on the Runescape login screen, when it says your account has not been logged out. About 13 hours ago, I was about to log out of Runescape, but forgot to log out, so I put my laptop to sleep. Yeah, I know that was a little stupid. So the next morning I try to log in, and he went and gave me this message. An hour later I try again, still no luck. I started to worry. I started googling the issue and someone claimed it could be due to the servers being down. I asked a friend to try connecting to my laptop and he had no problem. Worse still, in his friends list, I was displayed offline. Now I started to really worry. The Jagex support center tells me that I don’t have to worry and only have to wait about an hour. I don’t know, but I last logged in 12 hours ago, and if it’s been crashing for that long, something must be happening, right?

It happens to everyone. I often get this message, but I close it and try again right away. I usually connect by closing and trying again three times (and it only takes a few minutes). If it still doesn’t, try another server and try again. Sometimes it’s the server. If you accidentally logged out, you won’t be able to log in for more than an hour. Rarely, very rarely, does that mean someone could be on your account and hack it, but you couldn’t access the lobby screen. When you log back in, please check your items just to be safe. This error message has been popping up a lot lately, so you are definitely not alone.

I’ve had this problem with RuneScape twice before, and searched the internet for a long time trying to figure out how to fix the problem, but to no avail. Honestly, the only thing I know you can do is wait a few hours, until he logs you out. I had to wait until the next day which was a bit annoying.
If you are in a clan, what you can do is check on the RS site, in your clan’s private forum, if you are still logged in or not. That’s how I found out that I was still listed as being connected to W22.

Most problems with online browser games have something to do with cache and cookies. Have you tried clearing your browsers cache and cookies? Have you also tried logging into another computer or another account on your computer?
