Maintainment Is A Word Isn’t It?

According to the Oxford English Dictionary, it is a word, but it is classified as rare and obscure. It’s basically synonymous with maintenance, which may be a better choice, for the sake of clarity and so you don’t get accused of making up words.

RE:

No, even when people yawn, I don’t yawn. I like to play a game with my friends where someone will yawn and see who yawned first. I usually never win unless I have a cold because I’m so tired I feel like I’ve been awake for an entire week with a twinkle of sleep.

I grew up with this word. It is an active and continuous present. It suggests thoughtful and dedicated future maintenance. Maintenance can be a noun or an immediate action. Maintenance suggests the need for repair after a problem occurs, while upkeep is about preventing problems and promoting long-term stability. Consider this sentence:
“We will review or maintain the procedures.” – This is a clear signal that all is well, and we want that to continue. “Consider our maintaining the company.” The company is doing well; what can we do to make it that way and improve it; How can we learn from our continued success?
“We will review our maintenance procedures.” – This seems to indicate that something is wrong and we want to fix it. “Consider our maintaining the company.” There is something wrong with society; how can we fix it.
Honestly, they don’t even seem to be derived from the same root. Maintenance versus maintenance.

I think so, but I haven’t seen or heard it used in many, many years.
