To be honest, I don’t think the person(s) in charge of character development at Edge know what they’re doing. They seem to have no idea what a wrestling “heel” is. They seem to think that as long as fans are disgusted, the character will work. If you remember, my first question on Answers was very similar to the one you ask here. I got a lot of replies basically saying “it’s for warming up”. For all the wrong reasons, WWE turned Edge into a whiny, whiny, whiny, weak coward who needs to be forced into the ring. When this happens, all matches end with one more match. Hell, he’s bringing the “date” WITH HIM to the ring now. When was the last time you saw Edge win a single match? I have no problem with jumps that cheat to win (I’ve been a Ric Flair fan for 33 years!), but Edge is NOT a good jump. If the reason for Edge’s character development is to turn up the heat, they’re doing it the wrong way. I don’t think even the Undertaker taking all those shots in the chair helps Edge get over it. Edge has sunk so low that people aren’t booing the bad guy, they’re just disgusted. Maybe Edge isn’t physically capable of working an entire match anymore, so is WWE distracting our attention from that by having disagreements in every Edge match? He’s pretty limited now in the number of moves he makes compared to just a few years ago.
