I’ve seen so many races between the SRT-4 and the Ford Mustang and the Mustangs always lose. Supposedly they have a V8 but can’t keep up with a 4 cylinder? The SRT-4 is fast, I mean faster than a 350Z, S2000, WRX and any Honda, but they all have less than 8 cylinders. Ford doesn’t really have any excuses for being so slow.
MUSTANG engine is unreal with HP when tuned CORRECTLY and POWER CHIP installed. My old BOSS MUSTANG was HORRIBLE in cornering and grip, but the STRAIGHT was INCREDIBLE with 365 HP under the hood of a 302 that I had tuned well! He did 12 seconds in the quarter mile! great for this season! TODAY there is STILL PRESSURE TO KEEP EMISSIONS LOWER and there are nifty chips that will give you more power! The MUSTANG< is of course a HEAVIER CAR and has the AUDI DOUBLE CONTROL ARM front suspension which GRIPS GRIPS GRIPS like ROAD GLUE! It will probably outperform the SRT-4, but the SRT_4 is MUCH LIGHTER! IF this really excites you, try your SRT-$ against an AUDI TURBO POWER TUNED and see what happens. In some ways, this sort of thing is RIDICULOUS! No matter how FAST your car is, there will always be ANOTHER FASTER and BETTER! aa TWIN TURBO STRAIGHT SIX BMW is VERY amazing and the POWER isn't LINEAR, it's EXPONENTIAL! BYE. THE NEW MUSTANG BOSS 302 is SO powerful they had to invent a NEW type of DYNOMOMETER to test it! I think it has 505 HP and has TRI K exhausts! It's AWESOME when ANY major automaker can make cars with SO much up-to-date technology! My old BOSS was great with mesh vinyl seats and tons of power, but it didn't come with heads or variable valve timing or other big items like oil-tensioned chain tensioners, etc There is MORE to a CAR than FAST! There is SAFETY and VALUE and of course the BEST CARS like the AUDI TURBO have QUATTRO or other AWD systems for GRIP and CONTROL! EVEN for BMW xDRIVEs SRT is a kind of QUICK JOKE in a way! The MUSTANG looks more like a LUXURY car than the SRT-4 and then there's the FORD FOCUS HIGH HP doing 333+ HP out of a TURBO FOUR banger and FORD engines can handle it! A TURBO AWD car is the BEST next to a SLOT CAR!
Has no importance. My Tesla smokes them all. And all drivers are like wtf. It’s so beautiful to see the faces of the drivers of Mustangs, Camaros and Challengers getting smoked by an electric vehicle.
My WRX is faster than all but the latest Mustang 5.0 V8s. (from 2015)
Mustangs are heavy and probably don’t have good handling compared to other cars. Which is probably an important factor. I’ve seen 300hp 350z smoke them. Mustangs can be fast, but big on cash. Basically any car can be fast.

The 2004 Mustang GT had a 260 hp engine while the SRT-4 had 230 (official figure, independent measurements suggest it may have been underestimated).
The difference is small, but the Mustang’s 3,347 lb weight was a bit more than the SRT-4’s 2,900 lb, meaning the Mustang each had its HP of 12.87 lbs, while the SRT -4 was only 12.87 lbs 12.61. It’s close, but there is an advantage.
Add to that the less-than-ideal shifting, the fact that the fuel may not be the best, and the unadvertised extra power of the SRT-4, and it might be enough.
