How Far From The Base Of The Building Does The Ball Hit The Ground?

A ball is thrown horizontally from a 13 m high building with a speed of 5.0 m/s. How far from the base of the building does the ball hit the ground? I know delta y =.5gt^2, but still can’t figure it out. Can anyone give me step by step?

To determine how far something has traveled in the x direction, we need to know how long it has been going. The only way to do this is to find out how long it will take to fall from a 13m building.
For this first step, to find the time, we will use the kinematic equation:
h = .5gt^2 << you got that part, good job Using algebra we get that: t = √((2h) / g) Substitute our values: t = √(26 / 10) = √2 .6 = 1.6 s (approximately) Now, with 1.6 seconds to fall, we use the equation: d = vt Enter our values: d = (5)(1.6) = 8m

the base building ball hit the ground

I’ll give you three ways. 1. launch 2. launch 3. launch
