Do You Have Letterboxes In The Usa In Front Of Your House? ?

I’m doing family history and I searched someone’s house in Oklahoma and didn’t notice any mailboxes out front. I’m in Australia mailboxes in every house. Thanks

In some places we do. In some locations we have a mailbox at the front door. In some places we have a box in front of the house. In some places we have a box on a pole along the street. In some places we have a bunch of boxes for several houses grouped together. In some places, the mail is not delivered to all homes and everyone goes to the post office to pick it up.

It’s not mine, but I live in an apartment.

We would call them mailboxes.
Most homes have one at the end of the driveway so the postman can stay in his vehicle to deliver the mail.
In the county, you can find clusters of mailboxes on the side of the road. So the postman doesn’t have to travel miles to each farm/house.
Townhouses may have a large metal box with multiple street mailboxes.
Apartments may have one or two small boxes for tenants to receive their mail.
When I was a kid, we had our mailbox on the porch. Many at home still do. But the post tries to put all the mailboxes on the side of the road.
A postman that drives to deliver the mail is much more efficient than walking the path.

Some places yes and some no. Where I live, there are no mailboxes in front of all the houses. There is a cluster of mailboxes every two blocks where mail is delivered.

Every household has access to mail delivery at this location (except perhaps in extremely rural areas). It could be an individual box on the street, a group of 2-10 boxes (individual or safe) somewhere in the block within walking distance, or a crack in the door. People also have the option of buying boxes from post offices for a fee and using them.

Some neighborhoods have a vacancy for several houses. Mail can be delivered to all addresses.

Most of us have a mailbox on a post on the road in front of our house. In most suburban and rural communities, letter carriers drive by and lean out of windows to put mail in boxes. There are communities in my city where the houses are closer together, and the postman goes from house to house to deposit the mail in the mailboxes adjoining the house. In most apartment buildings there is a central area with mailboxes that residents open with a key. And in some rural areas where houses are far apart, there may be a bunch of mailboxes at an intersection, and people have to drive there to get their mail.

We have mailboxes, where postmen deliver our mail. If you want to send mail, you can put it in the mailbox or attach it to the mailbox with a postage stamp.
