I agree with the general consensus that dogs would discover a unique scent rather than noticing a change in hair color.
However, we needed a very matted shaved rescue sheepdog which our dog knew very well after over 2 weeks of staying with us and after introducing the beautiful hairless canine again, our dog (and cat) did not didn’t seem to recognize her at all. .appearance (at the beginning).
After all, she clearly smelled completely different (having been washed/dressed/shaved), but the surprise response was from afar (kitchen front door). It was hilarious and I wish I had thought to document it. They looked completely shocked. So I don’t think it’s out of the question that your dog won’t notice a change in hair color. The residual bleach and peroxide toner smell would no doubt be famous (even if you don’t smell it, it will).

It’s potential, some animals discover it every time you change hair. Your dog almost certainly knows it’s still you, he just needs to study to adapt to the changes.
My cats gave me an unusual look after I bleached my hair a few years ago, but they know it’s still me.
