can hamsters eat pumpkin seeds?

yes, hamsters can eat pumpkin seeds. Many commercial hamster food brands contain pumpkin seeds. Hamsters get to know the outer covering of the seed and then eat the softer seed from the inside.

And no, hamsters don’t choke on the seeds (unless they’re like my little ones and talk with food in their mouths!). One of the things hamsters do best (besides running on wheels) is knowing. They know for excitement, they know for purpose. As with all other rodents, hamsters have constantly growing teeth, and when you offer food that requires knowledge work, it helps hamsters to wear down their teeth. And finally, hamsters (and other rodents) evolved these ever-growing teeth because so much of the primary diet in the wild would consist of seeds that require strong teeth.

Dry the seeds (you don’t need to cook them, but if you cook them, you can also cook your hamster seeds) and offer them to your hamster. I’m sure your hamster will enjoy the treat.
