Can chlorine water kill ticks?

I’m a swimmer, which means I swim at least two hours a day in a pool (duh, I’m in a pool). That said, I noticed today that I had a tick stuck to me that I’ve seen for the past few days, but didn’t know it was a real tick. One of the main reasons I didn’t think it was a tick was the fact that it didn’t swell up it just lay flat which means it was probably a dead sense that wasn’t eating my blood ! So I was wondering if being in a chlorinated pool could kill ticks.

NOPE

People drink chlorinated water all the time. Insects breathe differently from you and me, through holes and tubes through their bodies. Being submerged in water simply cut off the air supply and one of two things happened, the insect died, or it went into some sort of hibernation and is still alive until then let the water go so you can breathe again. Chlorinated water does NOT kill insects, only bacteria.

Yes, but perhaps not in the concentration found in a swimming pool. Many report that ticks fall into a chlorinated pool, but whether this kills them is an open question.
