Honestly…I would never trust REI to tune a bike or wax skis. They also may not have the specific skills needed to work. REI hires people from the general population and “trains” them to work in a particular field. If you take your bike to a bike shop, you KNOW that the key that works on your bike works on bikes and only on bikes. With this, you will get good quality work for a reasonable price.
REI bike mechanics are generally as skilled and experienced as those at other bike shops. There’s always a chance that you’ll be less satisfied with one mechanic’s work than another, no matter where you go.
REI guarantees its work and services 100%, which is a good guarantee of satisfaction. Prices are cheaper for REI members than for non-members. I think they cost around $65, but that can vary by location.
