Are Blue Eyes Considered An Exotic Physical Feature In Puerto Rico ?

I have a Puerto Rican friend who has blue eyes and he tells me that in Puerto Rico he is considered exotic because of the color of his eyes because he says the overwhelming majority of Puerto Ricans don’t have the blue eyes, unlike most Angles who have blue eyes, so he stands out among most of the wealthy.

Answer 1

It’s not really “exotic”. more like “unusual”. exotic in PR is like an oriental, Indian,

also someone with yellow hair and red skin. Ah, that’s so exotic.

answer 2

Granted, most Puerto Ricans don’t have blue eyes, but there are plenty who do too. Puerto Ricans are a mixture of Spaniards (whites), blacks and Taino Indians. It is therefore not uncommon to see people with blue eyes and blond or red hair here. I have fair skin, blue eyes and dark hair.

So I would say no, it’s not that exotic, but it’s not that typical, so I can see why he says that.

Ok, here (Puerto Rico) there is a mixture of all kinds of cultures and genes, even though most people don’t have blue eyes. I don’t think the word would be “exotic” rather something like “desired” or “envyed”

Source(s): Puerto Rican, born and raised on the island.

answer 4

Exotic, NO. Attractive, yes. Any fair-skinned Hispanic, regardless of eye color, is considered handsome. It’s just the culture due to the Europeanization of the Americas. I am a light-skinned, half Puerto Rican/Spanish male, with black eyes, light brown hair and white skin.

When I go to Puerto Rico, I’m more desirable because culturally hypnotics teach indirectly that lighter is better. Almost all cultures have this nuance. However, Puerto Rico embraces its diversity, and honestly, intellect is just as important as looks.

Answer 5

certainly not!!! There are many Puerto Ricans who have blue eyes. It is true that not everyone has blue eyes, but it is not strange to see a person with blue eyes. My eyes are olive yellow and I’m not considered WOW exotic or anything like that. as others have said we have a mix of races so some of us may have blue eyes some may have green eyes and like most we have brown eyes. Everything depends

Answer 6

I’m from a small town in PR, half of my family have blue eyes, greens turn brown. I think in most families there is someone with light eyes. My eyes are blue-green with a dark rim around them and they are really exotic and different. Yes, there are many light eyes on the island, -as well as brown ones…. it is not uncommon.

Answer 7

As we are a mixture of Europeans (mainly from Spain, but also small groups from France, Germany, Corcega and other areas), Africans and Taino (mostly Americans since 1898), people with blue or green eyes are not very common. My wife’s grandmother had brown eyes.

So since they’re not common, your friend might be right to call them exotic.

Most blue-eyed Angles? They have a higher percentage of blue-eyed people than Hispanics, true, but “most” of them don’t have blue eyes. Darker eye colors are dominant genes, regardless of breed.

Answer 8

Puerto Rican eye color

Answer 9

wow does your friend like to brag and think he’s god because he has blue eyes? ha, that’s a laugh.

but yeah, it’s not uncommon, but it’s not very common for a Puerto Rican to have blue eyes. your eyes are more green than blue in our culture. but we have all kinds of eye colors, from hazel to gray to blue and green. the most dominant color is dark brown and light brown. I saw mostly biracial Hispanics, black and white Puerto Ricans who have blonde hair and green or blue eyes. here in puerto rico there is this ignorance that people neglect their beauty because of the color of their eyes. Honestly, I don’t like men with green eyes or blue eyes because I grew up in the United States and it’s not exotic for me. Most people who find this odd are those who have never left PR or visited the United States. Personally, I think yellowish brown eyes are my weakness and brown eye color is too dark. I don’t like blonde hair, I like black hair. so it all depends, if i see your friend for me it’s like any other guy, nothing special because my preference is not green or blue eyes with blonde hair. I prefer to date a guy whose eyes shine dark like the mysterious night and hazel like the sand of the river, I believe they are more expressive than blue eyes.

Answer 10

Most Puerto Ricans are white PR is the latin american country with the most white people after argentina and uruguay….. (we are white spanish) so blue eyes are not the most common eyes, but they aren’t rare or exotic…they just aren’t common…….

Answer 11

Blue eyes are rare all over the world, more abundant in Ireland, Scotland and the Nordic countries, during colonization we have Irish Catholics migrating to Puerto Rico. I had two of my uncles with blue eyes, one with green brown eyes just like my grandmother, red hair also in my family as well as dark skin, white skin because we are a mixture of races
