What is the magnitude and direction of the of the force acting on the 1.0 nC charge in the figure?

Answer 1

Fix the coordinate axes to the 1nC load coming from this load.

The force due to 2nC on the left will act at an angle of 60 to the x axis
The force due to 2nC on the line will act at an angle of 120 to the x axis

Vertical components will be added and horizontal components will result in zero force.

The resulting force is therefore 2* 9e9*2e-9*1e-9 *sin 60 / (0.01) ²

=3.12 and -4 N vertically upwards.
