commenting UP on a facebook group post means something. I am part of a facebook group that deals with sales etc. (a form of ebay) and when people post something like PSP for sale they are (apparently) entitled to one UP every 24 hours. Does it really do anything or is it just a joke?

“up” in a FB group is exactly the same as “up” in forums, the purpose of using it is that the post with the most recent comment will always be highlighted as the main one and therefore visible to users.

“UP” on Facebook means that the posted query has not received a satisfactory response. (i.e.) If the post is about selling one or more items, “up” means it’s still for sale. otherwise the message would be deleted or marked as “SOLD”.
