How Long Is Kraft Mac And Cheese Good For Past The Expiration?

I was about to make mac and cheese and it expired in April. Is it still good to do?

Today I made macaroni and cheese. The box hasn’t been opened and it’s powdered cheese. When I poured the cheese powder, it was an unpleasant brown color. I looked at the expiration date and it said “best to use before July 17, 2014”. Almost a year ago.
it smells good. good taste. What do you think?

It should be fine. I usually donate stuff like this up to a year after the expiration date, as long as the box hasn’t been opened. There are plenty of preservatives in the cheese sauce packet that will keep it good for at least a year after the expiration date on the packet. If the package is opened or if anything in the box looks or smells strange, throw it away. Otherwise, invent and enjoy.

I just ate a box that was 2 years out of date and it didn’t hurt at all.
It wasn’t very good though.

I’ve made expired Kraft macaroni and cheese for almost 2 years and it’s safe, but the pasta tasted a bit stale. If you add a little extra grated cheese or a bit of Cajun seasoning it might help keep it from going rancid.

Yes, if still dry in the can, mix well past the expiration date. Dry goods, mixes and noodles stay good for a long time, just make sure the goods are not puffy or rusty. Enjoy your mac and cheese!

I just made a box with a 2 year shelf life. The pasta was ok, but when I cut the foil cheese sauce packet, it was brown and discolored.

If it’s the kind that’s in the box with the dry packet of macaroni and cheese, it’ll still be safe to eat, it might just be a little stale and starchy. these things can last a lifetime.

Kraft mac and cheese probably lasts forever. With all the artificial colors and flavors and junk in the mix, and the white paste, it could go on forever. In fact, whole wheat pasta is quite shelf stable. Although I don’t buy junk like this, most of the food I buy in the pantry has lasted beyond its date. (I’m looking at a box of Trader Joe’s Bran Flakes that “expired” earlier this year.)
