It’s almost the same as Murphy’s Law…that is, anything that can go wrong will go wrong. In other words, the chances of you spilling tomato soup on your clean shirt and tie are much better than if you were wearing dirty clothes you don’t care about. It’s irony. The only similar idea I can think of right off the bat is the song “Ironic” by Alanis Morissette. “A traffic jam when you are already late. A no smoking sign on your cigarette break. It’s like ten thousand spoons when all you need is a knife. It’s like meeting the man of my dreams and then meeting his beautiful wife. Basically, sometimes, no matter what, the universe will make it a point to ruin it!
